Add ability to see all work in the class for a student

When clicking on a student in the roster, it would be nice to see a summary of all work they have completed for that particular class and be able to access that work for viewing or download.

This is an exciting idea. More specifically...would you see this only as a listing of all homework turned in to the dropbox, or should it include discussions and assessments as well?

add the ability to the video block to encode video as flash

modify the video block to work as a flash player instead of requiring the client to use a video on their local system. This would create additional ways to protect copyrighted video and remove some potential for video being incompatible with local players.

    add Student-created Webpages

Each student in a class gets a section of webpages to manage in the same manner that teachers manage their sites. These sections are linked to from the classroom website. Teachers will have the option to approve these pages before they are published or let the students publish their own pages.

add Student Profiles (Show and Share)

Students can set up informational pages about themselves including photos, files, video and audio. They can flag some files to be part of their show and share, one or more resources that are featured with their identity on the website. Possible additional features would allow for the inclusion of del.ico.us data, or other information from social networking sites.

Post to multiple classes at once

When adding an assignment, announcement, calendar entry, etc., it would be nice to be able to add the same item to multiple classes.

Make a seperate section where we to connect with everyone.

A section where we connect with anyone on haiku. This section could have chatrooms about different subjects, educational games, open forums/discussions, student profiles(that could be added by other students and could be customized but only to level that wont change the educational environment), and a place where only the users of our school could go, so we could connect with them. This section would probably be blocked by schools(like myspace, or youtube), but if people could access the website from else where(like home)it would allow students to communicate with others for help, and the website would be much more fun. I know this is would be a big change, but developing just a few of these things would be great!

    add a Class-wide Webliography

Build a class-wide webliography that everyone could contribute to and then at the end export it to a bookmarks file either web based or a browser friendly format.

add an All-School Calendar that feeds class calendars

For users inside a school domain, it would be helpful to have a centralized 'all-school' calendar which could provide events to all teachers inside a particular school/organization.

add a way to manage email notifications

It would be helpful to have a way for me to manage the frequency of notification for events, dropbox submissions, discussion postings, inbox posts, upcoming assessments, and test submissions.

add a way to accept payment for classes

I would like to be able to offer courses that require payment up front via credit card. Upon payment, I would like the user to be automatically added to my class roster.

Add to tests the number of students who missed each question

Many public school teachers use a scantron machine
to grade tests. The students answer letter choices on a small form withlead pencils and the machine grades it. The best thing about a scantron is the ability to find out what percent of the class missed each question. If Haiku assessment could do that.....the scantron would become obsolete. Especially since Haiku assessment puts the grade right into the gradebook.

add the ability to print grade summaries for each student

It's nice the teacher can print the class grades for each test or term, but wouldn't it be nice to have a print out for each student? It's like an automatic progress report for each kid! There should be room for teacher's to write a comment into each student report.

add a way to print assessments planned

It would be nice if there was a “Print Version” button on the top of the assessment so teachers could quickly and easily print out the assessment if they have a student who needs to take it paper-pencil, or even just if they want to tuck it away in a real folder somewhere.

We are in the planning stages & would love to hear feedback about your specific needs. Drop us a comment on this discussion forum: http://www.classroom20.com/group/teachingwithhaikulms/forum/topics/feature-question-what-are

    add a classroom wiki

Allow classes to create their own wiki for students to contribute information. This could also take the form of a content block link to wikispaces or a similar service.

Add a 'Drop Lowest Grade' from a gradebook category

Many, like myself, drop the lowest quiz (or other) grade from a particular gradebook category which currently haiku's gradebook doesn't support.

Allow for an easy browse and upload button for Microsoft Word files, which will be converted to HTML and displayed in the WYSIWYG text editor of a text block for further editing.

expand Calendars to allow for multiple calendars per class

I have a need to maintain more than one calendar per class so I can organize events in different calendars. I could then post a particular calendar to a particular page in the Pages section.
